ASUS’ Zenfone 10 is yet another compact flagship phone

by admin

ASUS has once again entered the realm of compact flagship smartphones with its latest offering, the Zenfone 10. In a market dominated by larger devices and foldable options, ASUS has managed to carve out a niche for itself. The newly unveiled Zenfone 10 bears a striking resemblance to its predecessor, maintaining its 50-megapixel main camera. However, ASUS claims that this iteration now boasts an upgraded 6-axis gimbal stabilization system, combining hardware optical stabilization, an enhanced electronic stabilization algorithm, and rapid auto-focus. This innovative feature enables users to capture smoother videos and sharper photos even while on the move.

As expected, the Zenfone 10 is equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and offers faster LPDDR5X ROM options of up to 16GB. Additionally, it provides faster UFS 4.0 storage of up to 512GB, doubling the capacity of its predecessor. The impressive 4,300mAh battery remains intact, now complemented by the addition of 15W wireless charging alongside the existing 30W wired charging. This slight enhancement in charging capabilities does result in a marginal increase in thickness, from 9.1mm to 9.4mm. However, the overall footprint remains unchanged at 146.5 x 68.1mm. The AMOLED display maintains its 5.9-inch size with a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080, but the refresh rate has been boosted from 120Hz to 144Hz to provide a smoother gaming experience.

ASUS has replaced the ultra-wide camera with a 13-megapixel sensor that offers an increased field of view from 113 degrees to 120 degrees. The previous 12-megapixel front punch-hole camera has been upgraded to a 32-megapixel RGBW sensor, resulting in vastly improved low-light selfies due to the additional white sub-pixels on the sensor.

The Zenfone 10 retains the features users have come to appreciate, such as stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, dual microphones with support for Nokia’s OZO Audio spatial capture and wind noise reduction. It also offers the ZenTouch customizable unlock button, which allows users to toggle the camera or scroll in a browser with ease. Additionally, it includes NFC capabilities and boasts an IP68 rating for dust and liquid resistance.

ASUS has introduced its “Connex” modular case system to the Zenfone 10, allowing users to attach a kickstand or a silicone cardholder to the grid of holes on the back of the case. Furthermore, users can assign an app, typically YouTube, to automatically launch when the kickstand is deployed. For those seeking rugged protection, ASUS has partnered with Rhinoshield and DevilCase to offer thicker case options.

The Zenfone 10 will be available for pre-order in Europe starting from June 29, with prices starting at €799 (approximately $870). Color choices include “Aurora Green,” “Midnight Black,” “Comet White,” “Eclipse Red,” and “Starry Blue.” Availability in the United States will follow at a later date.
