How Microsoft is Using Ads in its AI Chatbot, Bing

by admin

Recently, many people have been seeing ads in the Bing chatbot. From what we’ve seen, these ads are related to the questions that were asked by the users. However, it doesn’t seem like most people (including us) can see them right now, but they might show up more often soon. On the Bing blog, Microsoft’s Yusuf Mehdi said they are testing out how to put ads into Chat’s new experience. Therefore, we can assume that the ads we have seen so far is a part of their experimentation. He also mentioned that there will be many more ads in this new Bing experience.

Currently, when you search something on Bing you’ll see a link and some extra info below it. In the future Microsoft might let us hover our mouse over links from advertisers and this will show us even more links to help people go to those websites. They’re also thinking of adding captions from news feeds that are personalized for you right next to the answers that their AI chatbot gives.

It was obvious that Microsoft would want to make money from its Bing chatbot. But, now we know how they plan to do it! With the release of the chatbot, Bing got over 100 million people using it every day. 1 in 3 are new users who could be potential buyers for advertisers. Microsoft wants to take advantage of this high demand by trying to get more customers onboard.
