While the initial preview of the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie was engaging, it left fans asking, “Where are all the sinister robots?” Well, question answered. The new trailer pulls back the curtain on fan-favorites Foxy, Bonnie, Chica, and, naturally, Freddy Fazbear himself. These mechanized menaces are in their element, taking lives in the darkened halls of the amusement center.
Delving deeper into the storyline, the trailer focuses on a character portrayed by Josh Hutcherson, who you might remember from the unjustly overlooked show Future Man. He steps into the role of a night security guard at a children’s entertainment hub. Unbeknownst to him, he’s not just guarding arcade games; Freddy and his robotic posse turn the place into a house of horrors after sundown.
Visually, the animatronics do not disappoint. They come tantalizingly close to capturing the original look and feel of their video game counterparts. And it’s hardly shocking, considering their creators hail from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. But don’t expect any Muppet-like whimsy here; the film is heavy on “intense violent sequences, graphic imagery, and strong language.”
While the movie carries a stern content warning, it’s rated PG-13, indicating the grisly details will be somewhat subdued. Five Nights at Freddy’s hits the big screen and starts streaming on Peacock just when you’d want a good scare—October 27th, right before Halloween.
