Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Unveils Story Trailer with Venom, Additional Antagonists, and Escalating Drama

Scheduled to debut on PlayStation 5 in merely three months, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 continues to stoke anticipation. Fans won’t have to wait until then to get a glimpse into the narrative, as Sony and Insomniac Games used San Diego Comic Con as the venue to unveil the game’s storyline.

Our first glimpse into the world of Spider-Man 2 involves Peter Parker potentially merging with the infamous Venom symbiote. The trailer, steeped in thrilling suspense, offers a peek into Harry Osborne’s ambitions as he seeks Peter’s assistance to “heal the world.” Simultaneously, Spider-Man is challenged by Kraven the Hunter. As the narrative progresses, a voice-over offers a haunting description of a distressed Peter Parker who seems to be succumbing to the Venom symbiote. This turn of events leaves Peter in dire need of assistance from his fellow Spider-Man, Miles Morales. The cliffhanger shows an incredibly menacing and bulkier Venom wreaking havoc in the city, leaving us wondering who the symbiote has chosen to bond with.

Sony has also taken the opportunity to announce a Spider-Man 2 themed PlayStation 5 and DualSense controller bundle — both adorned with the eerie dark tendrils of the Venom symbiote overlaying Spider-Man’s signature red costume. For those who already own a PS5, Sony has confirmed that the controller and console covers from the special edition will also be available for purchase separately on PlayStation Direct starting from September 1st.
