Tesla, an electric car company, has dropped their prices in the US five times in just three months! Prices have gone down as much as six percent on all models. The Model 3 is now $1,000 cheaper and starts at $41,990.
If you buy higher-end configurations, there are bigger discounts! The Model Y Long Range and Performance models have now gone down in price by $2,000 to cost $52,990 and $56,990 respectively. In addition, the Model S and Model X had already seen big price cuts before this year and they’ve dropped by an additional $5,000 – so their starting prices are now at $84,990 and $94,990. Apparently, since 2022 the Model S’s basic model has become cheaper by a whopping $20,000 while the Model S Plaid is now over $25,000 less expensive than it was recently!
Tesla said this week that it sold almost 423,000 electric cars in the first three months of 2023. That number is a new record for Tesla and is four percent more than the cars they had sold before. Unfortunately, Tesla didn’t meet what people predicted they would sell.
The company’s goal is to make and ship 1.8 million electric cars this year. However, it has not achieved that target according to the first quarter results. Price cuts may help attract more customers, though analysts are concerned that these deals might cut into the company’s profits because they have not caused a big jump in sales yet.
