Pre-orders for the $9,995 Fuell Fllow electric motorcycle, created by Erik Buell, the founder of Buell Motorcycles, are now open. The announcement follows the establishment of Buell’s electric motorcycle business, Fuell, in 2019, when he also shared plans for the Fuell Fllow, the company’s first electric bike.

The Fllow is a medium-sized motorcycle that boasts features akin to a larger bike, such as a 10-gallon storage capacity and extra room for a passenger. With a full charge, it promises a city range of 150 miles, and charging uses the CCS connector. A Level 2 charger can fully charge the bike in approximately 30 minutes, while a standard home charger would take one and a half to two and a half hours. If necessary, plugging into a standard 110/220V home outlet would require around eight hours. Notably, as the bike uses the CCS connector, widely used in North America, an increase in the usage of Tesla’s NACS connector by major car brands is not an issue, thanks to the availability of adapters. Performance-wise, the bike can reach a top speed of 85 miles per hour and accelerate from 0 to 60MPH in just 3.5 seconds.

Buell emphasizes the importance of integrated and interchangeable battery packs with the Fuell brand. This feature allows for component upgrades as technology evolves, with the “battery pack module” enabling the swapping and upgrading of the charger, rear wheel motor, and fast charging socket.

Despite Buell’s history with Harley-Davidson, Fuell operates independently from the Buell Motorcycles brand. Buell Motorcycles, founded in 1983, was partially owned by Harley-Davidson in 1993, and fully owned by 2003. However, the Buell product line was discontinued in 2009, and despite its resurrection since then, Buell’s focus remains solely on Fuell.

Meanwhile, Harley-Davidson isn’t dormant, with its LiveWire division launching the S2 Del Mar electric bike in early 2023. This model has a 110-mile range and accelerates from 0-60MPH in 3.1 seconds. Despite the S2 Del Mar’s superior acceleration, the Fuell Fllow outperforms it with a longer range, quicker charging, and more focus on cargo capacity and modularity.

The Fuell Fllow is currently open for pre-orders, priced at $9,995, with a retail price of $12,995.

85mph ain’t too bad, but i’m all about that 0-60 time. 3.5 secs…Fuell Fllow could give some sports bikes a run for their money.

Wow, 150 miles on a single charge? That’s pretty impressive for an e-bike. I’m curious to see how it stacks up against others in the market. Pricing seems fair too.

Gotta admit, I miss the Buell line from Harley-Davidson…but this Fuell thing could be a game-changer. Still, good to see Harley’s not sitting quiet with their LiveWire S2 Del Mar. The competition is heating up!
