The Super Mario Bros. Movie: Biggest Game Adaptation of All Time

by admin

The Super Mario Bros. movie has only been in theaters for a little over a week, but it’s already doing amazingly well. It broke the record for most money earned on its opening weekend compared to any other video game film ever released in the US and Canada. The movie is also popular all around the world!

The Super Mario Bros. Movie has made more money than any other video game movie ever to appear in theaters. It’s collected around $508.7 million worldwide, and that makes it the highest-earning movie of 2023 so far. This beats Warcraft, which had earned about $439 million globally before now.

After the confusion of 1993’s live-action Super Mario Bros movie, Nintendo stopped making movies for many years. But when they teamed up with Illumination (the people who made Despicable Me) and recreated the art style from Mario games in animation, they had a hit! Even though the plot wasn’t complicated, everyone loved it.

Nintendo, Illumination, and Universal all worked together to make the movie called The Super Mario Bros. Movie but it hasn’t made it into the top 50 biggest animated films yet. The Lion King from 2019 is currently in first place as the biggest animated film with $1.66 billion.

Nintendo will possibly be making more movies, theme parks, and other non-gaming experiences. It looks like a Mario movie may happen – as well as movies based on other Nintendo games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This could be because someone from Illumination (the company that makes some animated films) is part of Nintendo’s board now.
